Story Behind Rawtopia

Omar Abou-Ismail is the founder of Rawtopia. He studied Geophysics at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geophysics, in 2002. After working in his field of study for several years, he decided to quit his job and follow his passion of making healthy food and contributing to an eco-friendly environment. He loves making healthy, yet tasty food, while supporting sustainable agriculture. His loss of his father to cancer in December of 2004 ignited a driving force in him to create a restaurant that supports peoples’ evolution in their health goals, and provides a safe place for them to come in and eat without feeling guilt or worry. This is when Rawtopia was first established in Sugarhouse in Salt Lake City on 4th of July 2005 before moving to its current location in Olympus Hills Shopping Center on August 18, 2017.


 Our Mission

Our award-winning restaurant prides itself in our dedication to provide the highest quality organically grown, sustainable, gluten free, non-GMO products available, and exclusively use low-temperature techniques on our raw foods to preserve all the vital enzymes and nutrients, leaving your body, mind, and soul feeling satiated with health and vigor. Patience, peace and love are major ingredients in our recipes, and our commitment is to serve the healthiest and most flavorful gourmet, organic, raw and cooked food you have ever experienced.


Our Food Ingredients

Our sweeteners are local raw honey, organic grade B maple syrup, organic coconut sugar, organic coconut nectar, organic dates, and organic raw agave. Our oils are organic, cold pressed and unrefined. Our eggs are organic, local, cage free, and pasture raised. Our bison is all natural, and our salmon is wild-caught.


Our Raw Food Living Cuisine

We sprout all nuts and seeds before preparation, as it increases the amount of nutrients by 600 percent! It also releases the enzyme inhibitors, phytates (phytic acid), polyphenols (tannins) and goitrogens; thus, allowing for proper digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Our food is prepared using juicers, blenders, food processors, and dehydrators. The produce is washed with purified water, and our living cuisine takes at least 2 days to prepare.


Our Cooked Food

The few cooked items are roots and cruciferous vegetables, soups, and ethnic cuisines; all prepared in a microbiotic way, preserving the integrity of the food. We cook with organic, refined coconut oil or avocado oil.
